The Karma Foundation paying it forward for Generation Rescue
Earlier this week Karma Foundation was asked to write a piece for Generation Rescue about how philanthropy and giving back to the community is an integral part of our daily operations and overall, long-term goals. As we mention in the article, each Karma Foundation event proves to be a night of world-class entertainment and excitement, but the real aim has always been to benefit worthy charities and embrace philanthropy. With each event, we hope to bring attention to, and create lasting relationships with, organizations in need of help and support. Our marquee event of the year, the 7th annual Kandyland to be held on June 23, 2012, will benefit Jenny McCarthy’s Generation Rescue. Supporting more than 25,000 autism-affected families each year with education and medical assistance.
Although the Kandyland event is still a couple of weeks away, some of Karma Foundation’s members have already stepped up to answer the call of philanthropy. Bob Hellman, for example, Karma’s 2011 Member of the Year, has made a promise to contribute $100 to Generation Rescue for each fellow Karma member who attends Kandyland. He has also sold his L.A. Kings Stanley Cup Finals tickets, donating the proceeds to this worthy organization. Bob embodies just what our members are all about—supporting causes with an authentic desire to change lives and improve the world around us. As Bob says, “One of the greatest things about Karma is our collective attitude to drive change.” Bob’s actions have encouraged other members, such as Brian Weber and The V Foundation board member Michael Hemmerich, to make similar matching contributions to Generation Rescue.
