A recap of the first ever Karma Member Summit, part 1

This past Saturday, Karma held its first Member Summit at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles, California – and we are proud to say it was a great success. The event, hosted for Members and their spouses only, recapped all of Karma’s tremendous accomplishments of 2012, and highlighted some the key changes and growth expected throughout the New Year.

The Summit was the perfect way to capture all that has been happening around Karma, including national press coverage, growing membership numbers, a greater number of large-scale events and the ultimate value and benefits of being a Karma Member.

The night started with a keynote speaker presentation by none other than David Maisel, Karma Member and senior advisor to Rovio, the brains behind Angry Birds. Prior to working at Rovio, David was an executive producer for many well-known films including Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Incredible Hulk, The Avengers and more. During his talk, David shared keys to his success, told inspiring stories from his life’s journey and ended with a Q&A session that was truly enlightening.

After the keynote, Karma revealed very exciting corporate news – an international expansion. While the plans of growth are still in process, we could not help but announce it to our Members present at the Summit. After all, keeping our Members well-informed and ensuring they feel one with Karma is something we firmly believe in.

In a mini-blog series captured throughout the next month, we will outline the first ever Karma Member Summit and detail our plans for international growth. Everything from Member experience to the awards distributed to several attendees will be discussed here on our blog. If you weren’t able to attend the Summit, keep an eye on this space to find out what you missed. And even if you were able to make it out to the fun-filled day, keep checking in to relive the incredible event.

FundRaising Success spotlights Karma and Model Citizen Fund partnership

Here at Karma, we are dedicated to forming unique partnerships with our members and their respective corporate and philanthropic organizations.

One of note, which we have blogged about before, is our sponsorship with the Model Citizen Fund – founded by Dan Fleyshman, the youngest CEO of a publically-traded company in history. Model Citizen’s goal is to provide backpacks, filled with over 100 life-saving supplies (from food to first aid necessities), to the less fortunate. Most recently, Model Citizen provided these survival kits to the victims of Hurricane Isaac – a cause Karma was more than proud to support.

Dan’s mission, drive and passion did not go unnoticed, as his Model Citizen Fund was the charitable beneficiary behind our past Kandy Vegas event, along with private members-only socials.

Earlier this week, Dan’s visions and decision to partner with Karma were featured in an exclusive interview with FundRaising Success – a publication known for profiling the most effective, top-tier fundraising strategies. Dan discusses the endless benefits of being a Karma member, including the many opportunities a Karma partnership has provided him with.

In an excerpt from the piece, Dan tells FundRaising Success: “By becoming a Karma member, I could network and share my story with people who are as passionate and interested in entrepreneurialism as I am.”

Dan goes on to explain the smooth and seamless application process when becoming a beneficiary of a Karma event: “Once I applied for a charity sponsorship, I entered a screening process like all of the charities do, and after many sit-downs and one-on-one strategy sessions, Model Citizen Fund was named one of the beneficiaries of an elite Karma event. I couldn’t have asked for a better outcome or more effective way of fundraising.”

When our members attend an exclusive Karma-hosted event, there are certain goals and expectations we strive to surpass. For one, Karma members know that our innovative marquee events will provide prosperous business networking opportunities, which more often than not, flourish into lifelong relationships.

But our members also register for our events knowing that they will be given access to the most unique nightlife, gaming, entertainment, hospitality and luxury lifestyle amenities and services. This, in large part, is thanks to Karma’s CEO and executive producer, Dylan Marer, whose talents were recently profiled on entrepreneurial website, MO.com.

The stage set, costumes, lighting, candy-themed décor, lasers, glow-in-the-dark effects, CO2 blasts and other extra special touches are all thoroughly planned and executed by Dylan and his events team. With over 20 years in the event business, Dylan’s goal is to create the ultimate sights-and-sounds experience from beginning to end, so members will never forget the look and feel of a Karma event.

“I’d like to say that all of the events we do are innovative, whether it’s chartering a fleet of World War II bombers and fighters for our guests to fly in, or creating a themed event at which guests are transported into a world of fantasy. They are all unique and creative in their own special way,” Dylan told MO.com.

Aside from our large-scale, celebrity-attended events, we also host smaller Roundtable events, ideal for one-on-one member networking and intimate socializing. At a Roundtable, we start at one side of the room, where members introduce themselves and elaborate on their background, occupation, personal and professional goals, hobbies and more, in two minutes or less. After, we work in a clockwise direction throughout the room, ensuring each member has a chance to speak and contribute to the networking group. At the end of a Roundtable, we break into a more informal social setting with some of the finest drinks and hors d’oeuvres, courtesy of Dylan’s award-winning event production.

Karma is looking for ladies who want to participate in some or all of the different events and exciting things we do throughout the year.

We are inviting ladies who are interested in the following:
- Sponsored Tickets to attend our Kandy Events & Partner Events (including the exclusive Halloween party we’re producing this year)
- Performers, Hostesses and Servers to work our events
- Karma VIP Hostess selling tickets to our events
- Karma Ambassadors to attend our networking/social events, market memberships/sponsorships/tickets, participate in charity outreach and Karma media

Come into the reception area where you’ll be checked in and given some short paperwork to complete.

Please bring your ID, a couple photos of yourself and dress to impress. You MUST have a profile in our casting database prior to attending…and you are welcome to bring friends but they must also have profiles completed before attending.

If you are selected to attend the Halloween event we are producing this year and/or any future event you will notified by email and asked to RSVP promptly.

If you can not make it to the casting this weekend we will still be selecting girls to receive Sponsored Tickets on a VERY limited basis so you might still have a chance to be invited.
