Generation Rescue: A perfect partner for the Karma Foundation
While every Karma Foundation event that we create is guaranteed to be a night of world-class entertainment and style, it is equally important that it fulfills our true mission as a foundation: to fund-raise and increase awareness for a worthy cause. The beneficiary of this year’s Kandyland, to be held at a private Beverly Hills mansion on June 23rd, is just that. Jenny McCarthy’s Generation Rescue is an organization dedicated to helping children with autism spectrum disorders and their families. Providing services for more than 25,000 children each year, Generation Rescue embodies the amazing work and progress that Karma Foundation strives to support.
Generation Rescue was founded in 2005 by Lisa and J.B. Handley, whose son, Jamison, had been diagnosed with autism the previous year. Through an extensive search for care and answers for Jamison, the Handley’s discovered numerous other families who shared the same struggle. They created Generation Rescue, designed to foster a community in which these families could come together.
Jenny McCarthy’s son, Evan, was diagnosed with autism the same year Generation Rescue was founded. After an extensive search for answers, Jenny came across Generation Rescue and found it to be her touchstone. Thanks to stories and suggestions from other families, she was able to use this invaluable community to move forward with Evan’s recovery. In 2008, Jenny became the president of Generation Rescue with the intent of furthering its mission even more. Today, Generation Rescue is known worldwide for its dedication to autistic children and its support and guidance of their families.
